Anyone but

OK everyone....in chorus!   ANYONE BUT HILLARY...ANYONE BUT HILLARY
ANYONE BUT HILLARY!!

And have you heard about this farce of a smear that is being done to Rush??
and the fact that the originator of the scheme was David Brock?
Who runs MediamattersforAmerica?
Which has money from Hillary (according to rumor)?
and from MoveOn.org?
The Dems must be scared to death of Rush and the other conservative talk shows.
The method being used is typical Hillary...distort, confuse, take out of context, and if all else fails, outright lie.  And all those senators , without fact-checking, fell right into line!
If only 3/4 of the people weren't sheep who have no idea what's happening.

re:Newt

Ah, well, so Newt isn't running.  Can't say I am surprised but he is probably more useful running this new organization he has started.
Sooooooo back to Thompson.  He is getting no one excited.  At one meeting (so I have heard) he had to ask for applause!  Sounds like he needs a little more enthusiasm??

Benchmarks

A letter to the Orlando Sentinal this morning spoke of benchmarks.  His idea was that since we are so obsessed with benchmarks in Iraq, perhaps it would be a good idea if we established benchmarks for political candidates.  Once the candidates have made promises during their campaigns, they would be responsible for them after getting elected.  If they were missed, some of their salaries would be forfeited, or they would give up a privilege.  HA HA

Another letter in the same paper I would like to quote:
"As a child I was confused when my teacher explained how people felt inspired by Hitler's words.
As an adult I watched our best and brightest youth at Columbia University applaud the words of evil in our time.
        I am no longer confused."

In my own opinion the leader of Iran should never be allowed in the country, much less to address a university audience.  We may not be officially at war with Iran but one only has to listen to him to know that Iran is at war with us.
That was one sign of ignorance in a college president.
But then for that same president to get up and read the riot act to that leader and tell him how bad he is was the height of ignorance, not by breaking the "rules" of hospitality but by making a hero and martyr of an evil man.  And we wonder why the Arab world doesn't respect us!

Newt's American Solutions

Wow Newt Gingrich is on the go again!  He has been organizing workshops all over the country and last night he hosted the inaugural of "Solutions Day" in Atlanta.  This whole weekend will be workshops all over trying to figure out how to change the country.
The scope of the topics is awesome,  covering everything that is wrong in the country.
I don't have the list of them handy but you can get more info at:
http://www.americansolutions.com/
There are 35 different topics covering everything from social security  to "global warming" to religion in the country, etc. etc.
The nearest one to us is in Deland and the largest groups are in Calif. and the eastern seacoast.
Newt spoke and talked about what he has come up with.
The latest about his chances of running for Pres. is that he will if there is $30 mill. pledged.  I heard he will give an answer to that in two weeks.

Last night I saw that Alan Keyes has joined the Repub race.  He is a good one, but has no chance of getting nominated.  Maybe his entry will get some good dialog going.

Rest of answers

I know!!  4,5, and 6 come after 1,2, and 3~!! but I didn't take into account the fact that the latest comes at the top of the column!!   but anyway,

No. 4  Federalism...Power is divided between national and local units by a Constitution.
A system in which power to govern is shared between national and state governments, creating what is often called a "federation."
       see:   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federalism

Oh I am having fun with making links so you can click right on them and go!!   if you wish, of course!!  :-))

No. 5  Monroe Doctrine.   Dec. 2, 1823
Essentially the United States was informing the powers of the Old World (Europe) that the American continents were no longer open to European colonization and that any effort to extend European political influence  into the New World would be considered by the United States "as dangerous to our peace and safety".  The United States would not interfere in European wars or internal affairs and expected Europe to stay out of American affairs.

As you can see from our history after that date we stuck to only the latter half of that last sentence.

No. 6  Progressive tax.  A tax imposed...where people with more disposable income pay a higher percentage of that income than do those with less income.
         http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressive_tax

Civics lesson over for now!  I will try to find something else to bore you with another time!
:-)))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Answers Part I

These answers will appear above the questions so I can't hide them.  If you wish to look at the questions first, just scroll down and check them out first, THEN look at the answers .  :-)))
    OK.
   No. 1    "Wall of Separation"
This phrase is not in the Constitution.  It was written by Thomas Jefferson in a letter he wrote to the Danbury Baptist Association in answer to a letter he received from them.
        http://www.usconstitution.net/jeffwall.html

hey I learned how to make that a link!~    wheeeeeeeeeeee .

No. 2  End of racial segregation...Supreme Court Decision:  Oliver Brown et al. vs Board of Education of Topeka.  1954

No. 3.    Federalist Papers:  A series of papers (85 essays) arguing (to the citizens of New York) for the adoption of the Federal Constitution.
Written under the pen name Publius by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay.
Madison considered the "Father of the Constitution" later became President.
Jay became the first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court
Hamilton served in the Cabinet and set economic policy.
The Federalist Papers are considered one of the most important sources for interpreting and understanding the original intent of the Constitution.

OK 4, 5, and 6 in the next one which shows me I should have done those first!!

A little of that

Some questions:
      1.  Where does the phrase the "wall of separation" between church and state appear?

      2.  What Supreme Court decision ended legal racial segregation in the United States?

      3.  Why were the Federalist Papers written?

      4.  What is federalism?

      5.  What is the Monroe Doctrine?

      6.  What is meant by "progressive" tax?

Since I have some idea of the answers but not enough to explain any of them, I will now see how many I can find a good answer to.

from the National Review:
" Only two groups of Americans should worry about Hillary Clinton's new health-care plan:  the healthy and the sick.  The healthy are going to pay more, since one of Clinton's ideas is to prohibit insurance companies from giving them a discount."

from Michael Reagan:
"Sometimes Hillary Clinton leaves me breathless with the sheer arrogance of her assumption that the American people are like a bunch of straw-chewing rubes eager to buy her latest brand of snake oil."

moveon.org ad and more

Well, I was asking why no one was screaming about the insulting ad about General Petraeus and the Republicans decided not to let it drop!  They have been keeping it alive all week.  What do you know!  OK now I want to see a little spine in Congress!
They never got the message while they were the majority...anyone want to bet they actually do the job while they are the minority?

So now, acc.  to Hillary we are going to make sure everyone has health insurance.  I suppose that means all the illegals since they are getting everything else.  I keep asking my senators why they don't know the meaning of "illegal" but I don't get an answer to that!  All they are concerned about is making sure they get the latino votes.  Can't say I blame them for that...in not too many years the country is going to be 20% Spanish.  And I still resent having to punch 1 to take a phone call in English!!

So far we haven't had any hurricanes  in Florida.  and really not much affecting the US.  Sheesh, Al Gore will be having a fit!  I saw that now 500 scientists are finally expressing their doubt about the causes of global warming.  It's about time these people spoke up.  They have kept quiet too long so that Gore's lying movie has taken the lead.  It's even being shown in schools!!  As Gospel!!   If they don't keep trying to show that the science is not proven governments will start acting and the economy will go down the tube.

quotes again

well, I keep finding that people say what I am thinking much better than I can say it.   for example:
from Ralph Peters  (and I don't know who he is)
"MoveOn has been a cancer within the Democratic  [sic] Party for years now, and not one leading Dem has had the guts to recommend surgery.  Indeed, Democrats are terrified of the group's much-exaggerated power--but, then, it's always been the illusion of power, the bravado, that put totalitarian minorities over the top."
There has been a request to Waxman to have a hearing to investigate the ad they put into the Times .  The reason is the thought that the paper gave a reduced rate for a political ad.  Waxman being Waxman, it probably won't get going but at least someone is screaming, if softly.
I've been told that O'Reilly has been on the subject, so that's good.

Health plan

I just read about Hilary's health plan this morning.  I didn't get the whole thing but the part that struck me was that she wants to tax the wealthy more to pay for those who can't afford health care.
Anyone want to tell me how this differs from Karl Marx???  Socialism, here we come!!

Moveon.Org

I haven't discussed the full-page ad in the New York Times paid for (at a discount!) by Moveon.Org,  partly because I tried to ignore it and when I didn't ignore it I got so disgusted I wanted to upchuck.
But David Limbaugh is discussing it today and, since I didn't know the whole story before,  I finally got infuriated at what he reported.
The fact that there hasn't been more outcry about it doesn't surprise me since it works for the Democrats and the Republicans are too chicken to face up to anything.  (And there are other terms than "chicken" I would use about the party I have been claiming to belong to, but I don't want to offend anyone!)
Never mind the fact that the ad spoke of "General Betrayus"... it actually accused him of "cooking the books"and called him "a military man constantly at war with the facts"  (that last from the Democrats~!  HaHa!the party that wouldn't know truth if it tripped over it).
The New York Times is beyond disgust.  Moveon.Org is the pit of the sewer.
I grow more disgusted with the depths to which the Democrats will go in their effort to discredit the President and win the power in 2008.  What is wrong with this country that they are not treated with the contempt they deserve?????
And what is wrong with the Republican Party that they don't scream to the housetops about what is being perpetrated????
As the saying goes,  a pox on both their houses.   Ptui!!

More on the Govt.

More quotes on the government:
     George Bernard Shaw
A government which robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul.

     G.Gordon Liddy
A liberal is someone who feels a great debt to his fellow men, which debt he proposes to pay off with your money.

   Thomas Jefferson
A government big enough to give you everything you want is strong enough to take everything you have.

    P.J. O'Rourke
         1.  Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys.

         2.  If you think health care is expensive now, wait until you see what it costs when it's free.

Mark Twain

A friend recommended some quotes so here are some of them.
The following are all from Mark Twain:

1.   If you don't read the paper you are uninformed.
If you read the paper you are misinformed.

2.   Suppose you were an idiot.
And suppose you were a member of Congress.
       But then I repeat myself.

3.   No man's life, liberty, or prosperity is safe while the legislature is in session.

4.  The only difference between a taxman and a taxidermist is that the taxidermist leaves the skin.

5.  There is no distinctly Native American criminal class save Congress.

And here I thought a rotten Congress was a modern invention!!

P.S. defin.

I have been given a more complete definition of "meretricious"  so I am rushing to add it !

 meretricious---
      1.  a.  attracting attention in a vulgar manner
           b.  plausible but false or insincere;  specious
      2.  of or relating to prostitutes or prostitution

from the Latin--meretricius---of prostitutes
It would be a shame to leave your education incomplete!!
Now I am sure the author of that quote was not calling the Democrats prostitutes!  Right?
I would take definition 1 a  to be the meaning he had in mind.  ;-))))
