the anti-Giuliani group

I haven't been enthralled with Giuliani, but I just read who is against him and that makes him look better!!
   Olberman
   Huffington
   Rangel
   Scott Lemieux
   Dana Goldstein
Now if that isn't a sign Giuliani is on the right track , I don't know what is!  :-))
If he wins the nomination we have all those people working for us!  And they are already starting to squeal !!  Keep it up , left-wingers!!

Coulter

I'm reading Ann Coulter's new book and keep running into things I want to quote in here but then realized I would end up quoting the whole book , so the best thing to do is to recommend it.  It is a riot.  She is so funny.  Buy it, borrow it, whatever, but read it.  Sam's  has it at $15.08.

for peaceniks

quote from Ronald Reagan:
"All of us denounce war--all of us consider it man's greatest stupidity.
And yet wars happen and they involve the most passionate lovers of peace
because there are still barbarians in the world who set the price of peace
at death or enslavement and the price is too high."
I see people marching for peace,  people standing on corners with signs
for peace,  people preaching for peace,  and I understand their frustration .
But I wish they would go preach to the Islamofascists.
Sometimes I wonder , when I hear people complain because our armed
services are fighting and dying, what they supposed armies were formed for.
I know a lot of men and women went into the Reserves for what they could
get out of it,  but if they didn't realize they were training to fight a war, if there
was a war, then they were deluding themselves.
Human beings being human, it is very doubtful there will ever come a time
when there are no wars.  If the time comes it will have to be because people
have found something to take its place,  because there will always be some
who want to abuse others for one reason or another...religion or greed or
power or lunacy.
So folks can demonstrate and march  and carry signs and I hope it makes them feel better .... but it's one battle they can't win.

Krauthammer

At the end of a great column by Charles Krauthammer, discussing the terrible motion made by Nancy Pelosi about Turkey and its action 90 years ago (not 35 as I guessed before) in killing Armenians , he made this observation:

"In explaining any puzzling Washington phenomenon, always choose stupidity over conspiracy, incompetence over cunning.  Anything else gives them too much credit."

Someone, in a comment on the column, said, with the millions of people in this country, how do we end up with people running the country who are so crass, so incompetent, so greedy, so stupid,  (well, he didn't say all of those.... I added some).  Someone answered there is such a variety of attitudes and knowledge and opinions the electorate has to end up in the middle.  (That was a paraphrase, also)  Since the average IQ is 100 (which means half the people are below and half are above)  we should count ourselves lucky if the Congress average IQ is 100.  I won't venture to guess where Nancy Pelosi stands on that curve.

                 Pelosi and Reid
                 I have to concede
Have the talent to raise my bile.
                 Their ignorance is bliss
                 A fact you can't miss,
And they do it with such low-class style.

So there!!

Idiocy of Congress

So now the idiots in Congress have picked this time (35 ? years late) to complain about Turkish genocide.  Turkey, where we have military, which has been an ally, which can do a lot of damage, is upset!!  Wonder why?
Can it really be worth stirring up Turkey to worsen things in Iraq just to get at Bush again?
Congress, as far as I am concerned, has caused the loss of hundreds of our people and thousands of Iraqis by their obsession with Bush.  Nothing matters to them, not honor, not patriotism, not winning a war, not protecting the country, nothing!!  Just GET Bush!  There is no shame at all and there should be.  There are no statesmen in Congress, just politicians.  These are sad times for the country.
What irks me most is that the Republicans have nobody to blame but themselves.

Liberal papers

I take a local paper because it is the only one that is delivered before 5 AM.  Yesterday morning (the 15th of Oct.) there was an editorial rejoicing in Gore's Nobel.  Most of it was the expected puff piece but the last two paragraphs took the cake.
    Quotes from the next-to-last paragraph:
"the administration invented the case of WMDs in Iraq"
"Bush's 2004 campaign supporters invented the image of John Kerry--a decorated Vietnam veteran--as a coward"
"as recently as last month, ...the administration used a few minor successes
in Iraq to justify the military buildup..."

the italics are mine, obviously.
I sent them an email regretting that the author had the facts wrong.
Clinton believed Iraq had WMDs,  Kennedy and Pelosi believed Iraq had WMDs, Congress as a whole believed Iraq had WMDs ,  our intelligence services and Britain's intelligence services believed Iraq had WMDs  but according to this writer, Bush's administration invented it.
The "campaign supporters" were, of course the Vietnam vets who served with or at the same time as Kerry and exposed his phoniness, but I don't ever remember anyone calling him a coward.  (The decorations were 3 Purple Hearts received in a surprisingly short time, two at least for scratches, which gave Kerry the right to ask to GO HOME.
The "few minor successes" mentioned turned out to be a reduction in military and civilian deaths and a regaining of control of a large part of Iraq.
And before the day was over yesterday,  the day this editorial was published, there was great news from Iraq that Al Quaeda (sp?) was pretty much out of the picture.  But the main stream media was ignoring the fact!
             I rest my case.

Nobel??

All right, will anyone with a clue explain to me how Al Gore, who has produced a film with many unproved theories and many unexplained "facts" (although swallowed whole  by the intelligentsia!), is then honored with a Nobel prize for
PEACE???
I may be missing something but I fail to see the connection between "global warming" and "peace".    Well, I just noticed that "warming" does have the word "war" in it, so if we prevent global warming we can prevent WAR, maybe??
I am sure the man is very sincere, or , at least I am fairly sure, but I can't see how he is helping the peace problem.

quote of Prel.

"...if you disagree with Bush's actions in Iraq, that's your business.  But when, like Harry Reid, you first insist that we've lost the war, and follow that up by claiming the U.S. military has killed a million Iraqi citizens, knowing full well that you're lying through your teeth, it leaves me wondering why it is that one perverted politician is forced to resign for playing footsie in a men's room while another gets to continue being the majority leader of the U.S. Senate."

quote of Prel.

a quote from Burt Prelutsky:
"...how dare people such as the Clintons, John Kerry and Ted Kennedy, condemn George Bush for taking out Saddam Hussein when all through the previous decade they, along with all the other leading Democrats, gave speeches in which they insisted that Hussein was hoarding weapons of mass destruction, developing nuclear devices and subsidizing terrorism?  All of them insisted that regime change was long overdue, but then did nothing about it.  Then, when Bush took action, they condemned him for it!"

I guess most people know that 'kelptomania' means a persistent, neurotic impulse to steal.
I just discovered 'kleptocracy'....a government by thieves!

Now I realize that in Congress taking money from millions of people to spend on oneself or to do something that benefits oneself is not considered stealing, but personally, I can't call it "just politics".

And now we have two parties that are involved in "just politics".... nice, huh?

Odds and Ends

Just reading the AARP was in favor of the new bill on SCHIPS which increases the number of children receiving health insurance.  Sounds fair, doesn't it?  Until you realize that families with incomes in the $80,000s would be included!    And families who choose not to buy health insurance would have to buy it.
The current plan covers 6.6million chidren and congressional leaders (Democrat) have agreed on a plan to cover nearly 10 million, with new costs met by increasing the tax on cigarettes by 61 cents.  Now how could you not like something that "helps the children" (even if they can already afford it or are already covered or don't want it).
Now why does it not surprise me that AARP is campaigning against the veto that Bush is promising?
Answer:  Because AARP is far-left, socialist, and in favor of anything that increases government control.
Well, not to worry, AARP...as soon as Hillary is President all will be cured!!  Health insurance will be required by the government and ALL will be covered!!  Will we be a great nation or what??
